Treating Cancer From Western vs Medical Qigong Perspective

Lisa VanOstrand teaches medical qigong and qigong energy healing for 3 Treasures School of Medical Qigong in various places in the United States
by Lisa VanOstrand

The four major types of treatment in Western Medicine for cancer are surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and biologic therapies. Hormone therapies such as tamoxifen are also available.

Medical Qigong therapy is a form of Chinese Energetic Medicine, and is one of the four foundational schools of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Medical Qigong predates acupuncture by thousands of years. Like Chinese Medicine, Medical Qigong views all diseases as a manifestation of an underlying imbalance. The Medical Qigong therapist uses energetic healing protocols on the client to purge toxic emotions from the body’s tissues, eliminate energetic stagnation, as well as strengthen and balance the internal organs. The client may also be given exercise prescriptions, which combine physical movements, breath, sound, visualization, and intention to facilitate the healing in between treatments.

Using an analogy of a plant, the tumor can be considered the flower or actual manifestation of the disease and the root of the plant as the actual root cause or support which feeds and nourishes the flower. Pulling out a weed without the attached roots of the weed, means that the weed will inevitably reappear sometime in the future. Thus, the flower as well as the root cause of the illness must be found and treated, otherwise the imbalance cannot be eradicated and worse yet, the disease or imbalance can be aggravated. Medical Qigong healing protocols and exercises work to get at the root of the patient’s imbalance.

My name is Lisa VanOstrand we are providing information on the Barbara Brennan School of Healing and Medical Qigong and Qigong energy healing. I have been highly involved many years in the Barbara Brennan School of Healing as well as the world of Chinese Medicine and Medical Qigong.

The Barbara Brennan School of Healing is dedicated to the evolution of the human spirit. It is a highly respected educational and global healing institution, with thousands of graduates in over 50 countries throughout the world.

I was a senior instructor at the International Institute of Medical Qigong, founded by Jerry Alan Johnson. While it was operating as a school that authorized branches, I held the title of Dean of Psychology.

I teach qigong and qigong energy healing in various places in the United States, mainly Florida and New York. I have studied extensively with Jerry Alan Johnson. In fact, I was one of the early students of Jerry Alan Johnson and was the first person in Florida to receive my doctorate. As an IIMQ teacher, I have the longest history of teaching Medical Qigong in both Florida and New York. I have long been an avid pursuer of spirituality, starting my path with meditation and yoga.

3 Treasures School of Medical Qigong is now a private, post secondary degree-granting institution recognized by the Florida Department of Education and Florida Commission on Independent Education under the authority of Florida State Statutes, Section 1005.06. Unfortunately, because of the New York state laws, the doctoral program will only be offered in Florida. The first class will be on Detoxification. The healing of all chronic diseases must begin with detoxification. This class will include all new material including: Medical Qigong exercises, healing protocols, as well as dietary/nutritional suggestions to support this process.

3 Treasures School of Medical Qigong has been accepted by the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) as a candidate for their Council of Schools and Programs (COSP). This is quite an honor and I believe will add a level of prestige not only to Medical Qigong but also for graduates from the program. AOBTA is a national recognized organization that supports Asian bodywork and specifically recognizes Medical Qigong as one of its’ healing modalities.

Medical Qigong is an excellent energetic healing modality regardless of whether you are a client or a practitioner. If you have an interest in learning Medical Qigong, please call (786) 512-7096 to setup an appointment. For more information on line – please visit http://3treasureshealing.com/

What’s Blocking Your Well-Being?

Thrive in Therapy Counseling Services, Inc. - Rinda Rosenberg, LMHCFrom the Outside Looking In

You’ve got this vague, nagging sense of emptiness that you’re determined to get to the bottom of. You’ve read self-help books, did exercises, learned a lot – yet, you still feel on the outside looking in. There is a disconnect – as if you are missing something that’s hard to name. Part of you thinks if you keep trying hard enough you’ll find what it is. Another part is giving up hope, thinking you’ll never find it. If this describes you, you’re not missing anything; you’re just moving on from learning and are ready to begin doing what it takes to find what you are seeking.  What feels missing is readily available; it was neglected early on and got buried through no fault of your own by the ways you got your needs met.   These ways feel “right,” they are all you’ve known, but they now get in your way. What you’ve got to do is get familiar with these strategies and then set them aside and you will access what’s missing right away.

How to Know What to Expect in Therapy and Make the Most Out of It

Thrive in Therapy Counseling Services, Inc. - Rinda Rosenberg, LMHC

Maybe you’ve been considering therapy, but don’t know what to expect. It can seem intimidating. What will you talk about? How can you make sure to get the most out of it? A lot of therapy is what you put into it. Here are a few valuable pointers to help you know get the most benefit.

Before Beginning With a Therapist.

What is it you would like to see changed? Have a general idea of what the problem is that you would like to have changed. The clearer you are about what you want to work on, the better the therapist can help from the get-go. Your therapist will help you clarify your goals and examine your expectations, but it is helpful to either have an idea in mind or to know that an early goal is to get clearer on what the problem is.

When you are choosing a therapist, know there as many different types of therapy as there are therapists. Each has his or her own special demeanor, experience, therapeutic preferences and niches. It can be helpful to contact a few different therapists to compare to get a feel for what qualities you would like. Make sure you aren’t getting too caught up in the research process, though. If it feels like a good fit, jump in to a session or two. If you don’t feel like it’s a good fit, be honest and let the therapist know. There may be something there worth discovering and processing, or the therapist can make a referral for you that may be better suited for you.

When scheduling a session, try to pick a time of day when you can spend some time afterwards reflecting on the session. Get to your sessions a little early, so you have time to gather yourself and focus on your needs.

Energy Healing with Qiqong

Lisa VanOstrand teaches qigong and qigong energy healing for 3 Treasures School of Medical Qigong in various places in the United StatesLisa VanOstrand teaches qigong and qigong energy healing for 3 Treasures School of Medical Qigong in various places in the United States, mainly Florida and New York.

What is Qigong?
Qigong is a combination of two ideas: Qi” (pronounced chee), means air, breath of life, or vital energy that flows through all things in the universe and Gong” (pronounced gung, as in lung) means the skill of working with, or cultivating, self-discipline and achievement. Together, Qigong means the skill of cultivating vital energy, or the ability to work with the electromagnetic energy of the body. The body is enveloped by Qi or electromagnetic currents, affecting both internal and external organ functions. As Qi is the fundamental energy that sustains life, it is present in every cell of the body.

What is Medical Qigong?

Medical qigong, is one of the four main branches of Chinese medicine along with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and medical massage. Medical Qigong is the study of the energetic map of the body based on classical and alchemical Chinese Medicine as well as more traditional Chinese Medicine. Medical Qigong techniques can be practiced on oneself for self-cultivation or on others as healing protocols. Prescription exercises, meditations and healing protocols, enhance body, mind and spirit and can also address the energetics of specific disease patterns.

3 Treasures School of Medical Qigong is a private, post secondary degree-granting institution recognized by the Florida Department of Education and Florida Commission on Independent Education under the authority of Florida State Statutes, Section 1005.06. Yang Fire Monkey Year by White Crane Healing Arts

by Miki on February 6, 2016

The Chinese new year which begins on the second new moon after the winter solstice will be on Monday, February 8th at 9: am. The rising moon will usher in the year of the Yang Fire Monkey and If I had to describe the year in one word it would be dynamic. I’ll explain why, but first, a brief description of how the Chinese astrological system works for those not acquainted with it.

Every year is either Yin or Yang. This cycle repeats itself continuously each hour, day, week, month and year. Last year was yin, therefore, this year is yang and next year will be yin, etc. Another cycle, known as the 5 elements, which is a system of corresponding energies, is used in Chinese astrology in two different cycles, known as the Earthly Branches and the Heavenly Stems. A branch and stem is ascribed to each year and if you understand their symbolic meaning, you can gain insight about yearly expectations and how to interpret what that year’s potential influence will be.
Earthly branches rotate in a 12 year cycle. One of the twelve animals (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, boar) is used to describe each year in the cycle and this animal represents a certain quality of energy. Each animal is either Yin or Yang and has a fixed element. For example, every monkey is yang and has a fixed element of metal. So all monkeys, regardless of what year they’re born in will have some attributes of metal (negative & positive) such as being composed or scattered, devoted, candid, trustworthy, combative, withdrawn, etc.
Each year is also influenced by the Heavenly stems cycle. This is a cycle of the five elements in their yin and yang stages which creates a cycle of ten years. This cycle rotates like this: yang earth – yin earth, yang metal – yin metal, yang water- yin water, yang wood – yin wood, yang fire – yin fire and then it starts again.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that is used to alleviate pain and/or to treat various physical, mental, and emotional conditions by using small needles to stimulate points on the human body. Originating in ancient China, acupuncture is now widely practiced in the West.

Acupuncture is over 5000 years old and is a time tested healing modality originating from the far East.  Each individual will experience acupuncture on a personal level and what one feels depends on their own state of being and level of sensitivity.  It’s common to feel a sensation of warmth, tingling or traveling Qi (energy) when the needles are inserted; and many experience a profound sense of relaxation and well being or possibly increased energy.  Acupuncture treats the whole being which includes body, mind, emotions and spirit.

Acupuncture points are located in the small depressions or hollows in the skin called gates.  Thru these gates, one can access the internal streams and rivers of energy that transport Qi and blood.  Qi and blood give sustenance to the interaction and cohesion of mind, body and spirit.  Fundamentally, illness manifests when Qi, Blood and Fluids are either blocked, depleted or imbalanced, which diminishes its healthy coherence to the point of dysfunction or eventually illness. Acupuncture can reorganize this dynamic by opening, closing or harmonizing the flows within the rivers and streams (channels).

Some examples would be, helping individuals to manifest their potential in the real world; helping someone that is experiencing an emotional situation (good or bad), to feel or express it  and one more example would be helping someone that is constantly discharging energy to store energy in order to have a sense of cohesion.  Our inner world of feelings and emotions are constantly challenged in an increasingly complicated world which prevents our neurological system from processing the incoming data that seems to be coming at us at an increasingly faster pace.

All hygienic precautions are observed and only sterilized disposable needles are used.
